A problem in the development of this technology is that of ash deposit formation and agglomeration. An understanding of the rheological properties of the coal ash involved will aid in the development of control strategies. Current work is being done to characterise the rheological properties of coal ash at high temperatures under an oxidising environment. In this project the rheological properties of ash from brown coal under gasification conditions will be studied, and a model will be developed to predict the behaviour of the ash. Interests
