Research Topic

The fundamental study of the rheology and stability of nanoemulsions

Research Abstract

Nanoemulsions have been widely applied in personal care, health care and cosmetic industries due to the following advantages of the systems. The aim of this project is to investigate rheological behaviour of nanoemulsions produced by using PIT (Phase Inversion Temperature) methods.

  • The main aim of the project is to get the better understanding of phase behaviour, stability and rheology of nanoemulsions. The objectives of the proposed research program are to:
    to characterise the rheological properties of various types of nanoemulsions by the use of different rheological instruments and techniques;
  • to investigate the stabilities of nanoemulsions;
  • to develop a model relating the stability and rheological behaviour of nanoemulsions by prediction using empirical data.
  • The desired outcomes of the project will enhance the understanding of nanoemulsions systems in particular relating to the rheological properties to expected stability and appearance of nanoemulsions applied in pharmaceutics, and to the relation between phase behaviour, nano-emulsion formation, stability and rheological behaviour.
